attaching garmin 705 via usb

Post by KeyzerSuze »

Hi

I have windows Xp (SP3) installed in Virtual Box 2.2.4 (Linux host - amd64), I have tried to attach my garmin edge 705 to the vm via usb (Bus 001 Device 016: ID 091e:2271 Garmin International ), windows seems to be able to see the device - it mounts is, but when I try and install the usb drivers it fails to find the device, I have tried high+low speed usb and just low speed, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Alex

EDIT: done some more investigating, seems like the usb driver might not be needed (old software)

A couple of things here.
First not all USB devices work in a virtual environment.
Secondly Version 3.0.2 is out and has improved this area so it may be possible to use it in the new version.
Also defining a filter in the settings of the Windows guest will cause a lot of problems unless it is a blank filter. Usually the best way is to enable the USB and USB 2 and leave the filters empty. Then once in the guest you select the device you want by clicking the device tab, go to USB and click on the device you want to use there.
