that works with Vista cannot work with WinXP...
I cannot see it installed in the system though I see it in Settings > network...

Have you downloaded the drivers and installed them in the guest? I don't think they are included in the Windows XP install. Go to Intel and get the drivers.

The Intel/PRO1000MT is the only adapter driver that XP does NOT have. Ironically, it does have the 1000T Server driver. Go figure, a workstation OS having the driver for a server NIC, but not a workstation NIC.
