Please help: Network configuring problem

Since shared folders are not working properly on Linux guest with new kernel I've tried to configure network nfs or ftp sharing but I can't make host/guest machines to see each other.

My host computer is Windows XP, it is connected to internet throw PPPoE connection, with is configured to be shared with local area network which is VBox one. Guest network is set to NAT Fedora 11 is installed. VirtualBox virtual ethernet card is configured for manual IP address 192.168.0.1 by Windows. Guest IP address is set by DHCP to 192.168.0.15. Internet appears to work fine both on Guest and Host machines.

But if I install ftp server on guest machine host machine can't access to guest, when I open ftp://192.168.0.15 it says "connection error". If I try to install nfs server on host (CygWin) and run mount -t nfs 192.168.0.1:/pub /mnt/host it says input/output error. Host computer is not firewalled.

What can I do to fix it?

Well, if Shared Folders will work with Midnight Commander in proper way, I would not need something like this, but now I need to, so please help!!!

Try Bridge mode, however Bridge will work for ftp but pppoe might not.

Yep, Bridge is produce internet problem: I can install PPPoE on guest and use internet both at host and guest but not at the same time, so thanx, but bridge is not a solution.

Suggestion: configure two network interfaces for the guest. One "Nat" this is used by the guest to reach internet. One "Host only" this gives full access between guest and host.

baf, thanx u a lot, I was thinking about this too. I'll try, just I'm wonder how computer does not confuse two local networks, for example, if I try to connect to ftp://192.168.0.1, which computer would be asked - provider's one throw Bridge or my local (host) one throw NAT?

upd: Bridge looks like not working any more, probably my provided denying connection from unknown mac addresses... At last what if I had no provider's network or physical Ethernet card at all? Bridge would be impossible, but was is possible to install ftp on guest available from host???

Now I've partly solved the problem.

I've plugged-in new (real) Ethernet card to be used to connect to my notebook and in Windows XP configuret network bridge from VirtualBox virtual Ethernet Adapter and that new real adapter. PPPoE configuret to share internet with the bridge, and in Firewall bridge is set as "trusted" adapter.

Now internet works on all computer (host, guest, notebook) and computers can see each other. Instead of VBox shared folders I'll use Windows Shared Folders + Samba.

The only problem is that from notebook and guest computer can't see providers LAN... But it is not very necessary.

What do you mean by that? The Guest can't see the Host or something?
Instead of all this hard work, setting up Host-Only should give the virtual adapter the IP 192.168.56.1, and will not conflict with the internet sharing of the Host itself, which uses 192.168.0.1. You can use other ranges for the Host-Only adapter too, as long as it's not the same as the ICS one.
