Autostart fails [solved]

Post by xcomm »

Hi Community,

I'm just wondering about how to autostart a VM under Debian (Unstable) with SunVirtualBox 3.0.0 running.
Unfortunately the VBoxManage command seem totaly broken.

Code: Select all

VBoxManage startvm <uuid>|<name>
                            [--type gui|sdl|vrdp|headless]

VBoxManage startvm "winxp"
VirtualBox Command Line Management Interface Version 3.0.0
 (C) 2005-2009 Sun Microsystems, Inc.
 All rights reserved.

ERROR: Could not find a registered machine named 'winxp'
Details: code VBOX_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (0x80bb0001), component VirtualBox, interface IVirtualBox, callee nsISupports
 Context: "FindMachine(Bstr(VMName), machine.asOutParam())" at line 512 of file VBoxManage.cpp
Any ideas?

Best regards, xcomm

Use
VBoxManage list vms
to see exactly how it is named. Remember case matters!

My way: "You live as long as you learn".

Hi baf,

Thank you very much for the reply. It seems not being able to collect this information.
Maybe my installed gcc or similiar is too new as on Debian unstable.

Code: Select all

# VBoxManage list vms
VirtualBox Command Line Management Interface Version 3.0.0
(C) 2005-2009 Sun Microsystems, Inc.

As I have winxp running right now to use XenCenter. ;-)

Code: Select all

# VBoxManage list runningvms
VirtualBox Command Line Management Interface Version 3.0.0

# VBoxManage list hostinfo
VirtualBox Command Line Management Interface Version 3.0.0

Did you create this guest as root or as you?
VBox has one machine list per user so root will only see roots machines not yours.
