Enable 3D Acceleration flag disabled (grayed out)

Post by axela »

The flag "Enable 3D Acceleration" is disabled (grayed out) and I cannot enable the 3d acceleration. Any hints?

I'm using Virtualbox 3.0.0 under Linux Ubuntu 9.4
I've a Radeon X1950 (I'm using the opensource drivers).
This is the result from:

Code: Select all

glxinfo |grep direct
direct rendering: Yes

Code: Select all

glxinfo |grep Open
OpenGL vendor string: DRI R300 Project
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R300 20060815 x86/MMX/SSE2 TCL
OpenGL version string: 1.3 Mesa 7.4
OpenGL shading language version string: (null)

I just checked again to be sure that the 3d Effect was working on my Jaunty laptop and sure enough it was.
The only thing that I can think of to ask is did you shutdown the guest? You can not change settings when in standby.

Yes, the guest was shutdown. I can change the memory of the videocard (I put it at 64mb) but the enable 3d flag was grayed out.
BTW there is a bug if I put the memory at 128mb: when I boot the guest the max resolution become 640x400 and the bit color depth become 4bit! If I change the memory back to 64mb (or even 12mb) the max resolution and bit color depth return normal (1920x1200 and 32bit).
I don't know if the two problems are related...
