Bios virtualization and security questions

Hi there,
i would like to ask you something, i know it could seem i'm paranoid (i am )
1: does virtualbox virtualize bios too? if yes, its enabled by default?
i explain, am i able to access to host's bios for updates (to update bios with windows for example) or for anything ?
2: how can i avoid spread of virus between Guest and Host? (exploits too)
i use vbox for security tests too and i need to be at least 90% sure that guest wont harm host, i havent shared folders but i use guest additions, would harm?
thanks a lot
