Upgrade from 2.1.4 fails

Post by john.mckeon »

Hi All,
Fedora 10. Using rpm I have been unable to upgrade from 2.1.4 to any version up to and including 3.0. The rpm upgrade appears to go properly but the program fails to start. The exact error message is listed below. The message has been similar or exactly the same with every version that I have tried to upgrade to. (didn't actually save the message until this time so I'm remembering the earlier messages). I am able to use rpm and reinstall 2.1.4 (rpm -Uhv --oldpackage VirtualBox-2.1.4_42893_fedora9-1.i386.rpm) and everything goes fine.

Error Message:
VirtualBox: supR3HardenedMainGetTrustedMain: dlopen("/usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox.so",) failed: /usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox.so: undefined symbol: _ZN8QPainter10drawPixmapERK7QPointFRK7QPixmap

Appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks

John

I have no idea what that error means, sorry. But have you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling?

I'm beginning to loose a lot of hair because of this error :P I hate it. Please do a full system update, it might work. Other options you can do, is search the forums, it's been asked before and the solution is here, somewhere.
