Hello,
Whenever I try to install windows xp home edition as a vm, I get through the basic setup, and reach where it starts to fully read the setup disk, and I get an error saying it couldn't read a file from my CD (I can try and write the exact error code if that's needed). I don't know if this is an actual error with the CD, or the fact that I can't(or don't know how to) boot from a mounted CD on my system. I'm running OpenSolaris, and the most recent version of VB.
I could use some help getting the windows xp installer running. Whenever I go through the instillation process, it says there's 39 minutes left and doesn't change from that.
If anyone has any idea on how to help, or would like additional information to try to help, that would be great. I'm kind of a newbie at VB and solaris, so I may need a lot of detail.
Thanks in advanced.

Re: Error installing Windows VM
How much memory is on the Host?
Try setting the guest memory to 1024 meg or even 512 meg and see if it will install.

Oh, I guess I only have about 3GB left on the host. But, that can be changed?

Re: Error installing Windows VM
Well Win XP does not need any more that 128 meg to run. It may be slow but you can install and run it. I do all the time. Try setting the guest at 512 Meg and see if you can install it.
Then if you get an error share it with us.

Re: Error installing Windows VM
But, the error keeps saying that it can't locate a file on the CD or something, so I'm thinking it may be the CD?

Re: Error installing Windows VM
Ok but others have had this error and setting the RAM down allowed them to install. Of course it could be as you say but it will not hurt to try one more time, just to be sure.

Re: Error installing Windows VM
I just finished trying to install and I got the same error, it couldn't find a file on 'line 4' for the CD. So, I'm going to replace the CD and see how that works.
Thanks!
