VBox Crashes during Install of Windows SBS2003 on XP Host

Post by phorts »

Hi Folks. New Here. I am trying to install Windows Small Business Server Standard R2 on my Windows XP Host. Not sure what all info you need in order to help me out but i've included a screen shot of the error as well as a log file taken right after a few attempts.

Host:
Dell Precision M65 Notebook
4GB RAM
Dual Centrino 1.66Ghz
250GB HD - C: (OS) - 60GB , D (DATA) - 190GB - D: is where 30GB Image for VBox resides

The error occurs after windows finishes loading drivers and is "Starting Windows Setup".

Nothing in the log indicates to me what the issue is. I tried upgrading to 3.0.0 with no change and changing settings around. I'm currently back to the default settings. I tried creating an image of the media and loading from ISO but with the same result. No other steps have been taken.

Thanks for any and all support!

This usually happens when you assign too much RAM to the guest. As a rule, don't assign more than 50% of the host RAM to the guest. Try it with 1024 Meg and once it is installed and working you can tweak it later.

That worked! Tried with 1024MB of RAM and setup is running flawlessly.

Thanks very much for your help!
