I upgraded to VB 3.0.0 yesterday and installed a new virtual XP machine with guest addition. Everything went well but after a reboot of my virtual machine the mouse pointer started to act weird. You had to klick the virtual XP window and then 2 mouse pointers appeared and I was locked in the XP window again like before I installed the guest addition. I had to press RightCTRL to get out. Before the reboot I could do as I was supposed to, no need to lock the mouse pointer inside the VM, just drag it in and out as I liked.

When I start up the VM with XP it says vmmouse.sys are missing and need to be installed. When i check the folder where it is supposed to be there's none. Why dose it work before the reboot but not after? Dose it lose the file while I reboot?

Is this a USB mouse, if so, be sure not to add it to the Guest as a USB device and don't have the guest capture it. Mouse and keyboard are special devices and will work even in the OSE version, adding them as USB devices to the guest will only cause problems.

I havnt added them as USB devices. Is it a bad idea to install the vmware-tool-kit, or something like that? can't find it atm but I read earlier today about it having the drivers for vmmouse and so on.

Reinstall the Guest additions. Before the reboot, you were still working with the old ones and those were loaded in memory, but after a reboot, the files are loaded again, but if you don't have them, it can't load them. You can always install the 2.2.4 GA again. Grab the ISO from http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox.

I have installed the VB 2.2.4 again and it seems to work as it is supposed to again. The problem now is that the vm hangs when I'm trying to install the drivers for Intel PRO network adapter. Shall give it a new try when I come home from work today.

Still having the problem with high CPU usage but I hope a second vm will solve that as I have read on forums.
