Installing XP Fatal Error

When installing Win XP on VB 3.0.0 with the host on XP SP3 I consistently get the following error:

An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing.

One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.

The system cannot find the file specified.

Press OK to view the setup log file.

Upon clicking OK I see:

Error:
SXS.DLL: Syntax error in manifest or policy file "D:\I386\asms\10\MSFT\WINDOWS\GDIPLUS\GDIPLUS.MAN" on line 4.

Error:
Installation Failed D:\I386\asms. Error Message: The system cannot find the file specified.

Fatal Error:
One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.

The system cannot find the file specifed.

I have tried on 2 different systems with the same results. Both systems have XP as the host OS. Vista Ultimate 32 has installed just fine. I've attached the log file.

I appreciate any help.

Joe

The error indicates that the install can not find a file on the install CD/DVD.
Could it be possible that the install file is corrupt?
Have you used this same install in a different machine and it worked?

Thanks for the suggestion. I had considered that and tried another CD with the same result.
