Hi All,

Host OS = Windows7 32BIT
Guest OS = Windows 7 32BIT, OpenSolaris 32BIT, Windows XPSP3

Using Vbox 3.0 on a Windows 7 host (32BIT), installs fine, NAT networking works ; however I want to use Host Only Networking, so that this Windows 7 VM gets a IP from my local network DHCP server, as then I want to PXE Boot this win7 vm to a wds server.

The host network option is selected but in Network and sharing centre the Virtual Box Host ethernet adapter is set to 169.x.x.x ip address, i have tried all, assigned static ip still it won't show up on the network.

any suggestions ?

Kind Regards
Rihatum

Umm maybe you should try Bridge Networking as your alternative?

Thank you for your reply ; Does this mean that the Host physical network adapter and VM NIC would have the same IP Address ?

Kind Regards

When I'm using Bridge Networking, the Guest OS is having a different IP than my Host. It's letting my Guest OS "talked" with any other machine connected to the same network. So overall if you choose Bridge, your Guest OS should also have an IP of 192.168.xxx.xxx. The VBox Manual explained this way better than me :)
