I have Vista-64 running virtualBox 2.2.4 and hosting CENTOS-64 as a guest. So far so good.
Guest can see outside world using default NAT based network interface, but guest can't see host nor vice versa.
I want to set up an internal network so that the HOST and any GUESTS can communicate.
I tried dual-homing the guest (eth0 - NAT, eth1 - static IP ) but then I lose all external connectivity.
Ideally I'd like guest to talk to outside world (internet beyond HOST) through default NAT interface (eth0) but to talk to HOST and any other
VM's through a second (host-only?) network configured on eth1 on the guest.

There doesn't seem to be an easy answer to this. The virtualbox documentation itself is no real help.

Can someone point me to the howto or wiki or whatever to get this working, this has to be a very common scenario.

Were you able to achieve this? I am an SAP developer and don't know much about networking.

My requirement is to ping guest from host and vice versa.
