Linux Mint 7
any advise on how to migrate to the new VB3 ? I am running 2.2.1 OSE right now with 2 Windows guests. Since there is no 3 OSE upgrade available yet, is it better to first uninstall the OSE version and use the .deb 3 version from here ?
If I uninstalled the OSE version, will that take out my guests as well and/or will they still be available to version 3 ?
TX.

Ok finally for those interested to try it out, it's much easier/safer then I though.
1- Uninstall both Virtual box packages using the Mint/Ubuntu package manager. This will not delete the ".virtualbox" folder in your home directory, nor your virtual boxes (Windows Xp for me).
2- Use the instructions on the VB site for Linux host. Just add the specified "jaunty" line to /etc/apt/sources.list (sudo) and run the "wget" command for the public key (whatever that is).
3- Now you can Install VB 3 from Mint/Ubuntu package manager (first reload the packages to see it).
4- Launch VB3. It detect my virtual hosts, convert automatically their properties to VB3 format and it recompile itself the VB execs for that kernel. That's it.
5- Launch my virtual machine and install the new "guest addons 3.0". All works good.
Now, in my case I noticed the video driver is pretty slow compared to 2.2.1. In tried directx (the main reason for upgrading to VB3 but it's very very limited now. While 3dmarks2001 refuse to start in 2.2.1, in 3, it succeed in doing a few tests.
So is it worthed ? IMO not now but If they can pull off a full Directx support, I could finally ditch my Windows disk for good.
