mic can't work

Hi,everyone
my host os is win7,and i found the mic can't work in the vbox' guest os ,both ubuntu &xp
i have googled for all this night ,but no answers found
the guest os ,what ever ubuntu or xp,works well except the mic ,while my win7 can record my sound well.
my vbox version is 2.2.4
is there anyone can help to fix this question?i need use the guest os to use rosetta stone.
