I booted Windows XP this morning, loaded Virtual Box (2.1.4) and opend an XP VM. I went for a coffee and when I came back my laptop had rebooted itself - I logged in and discovered a System Error had occured (usually blue screen). This has happened a couple of times before and on both occurences it was after I'd loaded VirtualBox.
Has anyone else had this problem? My C drive was recently rebuilt so there's no dodgy software installed, only the usual SQL, Office 2003 and VS2003 type of software.

Re: Windows System Error - by Virtual Box?
I appreciate your reply, but this crashing is only associated with loading a Virtual Box VM - no other software causes this. Has no one else experienced this?
Re: Windows System Error - by Virtual Box?
That doesn't matter, it happens on the Host, it happens when 'something' gets started, vbox modules or other. It might be specific to a vbox module but it can also be an associated windows module, after all vbox uses windows resources.

Re: Windows System Error - by Virtual Box?
OK, I've done some tinkering to ascertain the problem.
I believe there's some contention between VirtualBox and VPN client software (a Cisco product). If I'm connected to my companies network (from home) using VPN, and I'm loading a VBox VM it crashes.
However, If I'm not connected via VPN then VBox works fine - but when I then connect to the company network whilst using VBox, my machine crashes.
If I'm directly wired from within my companys network, VBox works fine.
Beware of using VPN whilst using VBox.
