VirtualBox3.0.0-Unable to use more than 1 CPU core in VM...

Hi,

Very excited to use this new version of VirtualBox.
I uninstalled the old version and installed 3.0.0.
(It installed with no errors or warnings and runs ok)

I setup a new VM for ubuntu.
(VM settings are below)
When I run the new VM, I get a black window with an error message.
ERROR:
Failed to start the virtual machine ubuntu_LINUX.
VT-x is not available. (VERR_VMX_NO_VMX).
Unknown error creating VM (VERR_VMX_NO_VMX).
Result Code:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {0a51994b-cbc6-4686-94eb-d4e4023280e2}

Seems like VT-x (which is enabled in the settings) is not working.
I have a 2.4GHz intel Core2 Quad (4 core) CPU...
(full computer configuration is listed below)

Anyone have any idea on how to fix this?
Thanks!!!

AFAIK - SMP only works on 64 bit hardware-v capable computers. And may not work properly on 32 bit host.

I am running SMP on a 32-bit Ubuntu 8.04 host with Windows XP guest and it is working good.

If I understand correctly, you do need to have VT-x enabled for the guest.

You need to turn on VT-x support in your computer's BIOS.

I'm getting the same error, but on a linux host and a windows guest.
When I enable on Virutal Box the hardware virtualization "--hwvirtex on" and it has only one cpu "--cpus 1" it works good, but when I put more than one cpu, i get the same error.

Error: failed to start machine. Error message: VT-x is not available. (VERR_VMX_NO_VMX).
Unknown error creating VM (VERR_VMX_NO_VMX)

Did you read the post above yours from sandervl?
Did you go into your system bios and turn on the VT-x? Look for hardware virtualization settings and turn it on.
You also may need to upgrade your bios.

Yeah, I read, but it's a server, I don't have access to the bios, and if it is the problem, the vbox wouldn't stop work when I enable the hardware virtualization even if it has one cpu enabled?
