VB 2.2.4/WindowsXP/Windows 7 RC guest - No Widescreen option

I have installed VirtualBox 2.2.4 under WindowsXP SP3 and have installed the latest Windows 7 RC under it. I have installed the Guest Additions. I am running on an Acer Travelmate 8204WLMi laptop which has a 15.4" widescreen monitor. However, The Windows 7 guest does not offer me a widescreen screen resolution option. The only options available are: 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864 and 1280x960. The only monitor definition shown is Generic Non-PnP Monitor on VirtualBox Graphics Adapter.

Anyone any ideas how I get widescreen screen resolution options such as 1280x1024?

If you have the Guest additions installed then you adjust the screen size with the mouse drag or you use the host key to change the size. Try host + F (right ctrl + F) and see if it will go full screen. If you have black areas then the guest additions did not install properly and you need to install them again.

Many thanks for that advice. I didn't realise that you had to set the screen resolution outside of the guest operating system! By dragging the window frame I managed to get 1496x960 and Host+F gives me the full 1680x1050.
