Not sure. This site is running on a 24x7 VM though it's only been up a couple of months since the last upgrade. I have only run my VMs for order weeks and tend to track the prod versions, but I haven't noticed any resource leaks in the current 2.2.4 version.

I have VirtualBox (Version 2.2.4) running on my system 24/7 and several VM's running with LAMP and security software all for testing. I only have a problem when I either do something stupid or I push it way beyond the boundaries. I can tell you that I do not use USB, Audio, or 3D Effects on any guest. I leave that to the windows software. For the most part the only time is goes down is when Vista needs to be rebooted due to an update, but that has not happened more than 3 times this year.

Never trust x.0.0 releases of ANY open source program. Actually this is alpha-grade release dedicated to developers and hinja-users. Releases like x.2.x are stable and rock-solid. You can use it in a production environments.

Actaully any x.y.0 in VBox has new features and functionality so the last "z" version of x.y.z is usually the most stable of x.y and best for production use. I still use 2.2.4 for my "heavy lifting".
