Hi all,

I have a little question. I try to connect the network between two virtualboxes. The first with Windows Server 2003 and the second with Windows XP SP3. I tried with all configurations into the virtualboxe's parameters and into all OS (Static IP or DHCP) but it's the same. When i try to ping the server from the XP or the XP from the server, i don't have an answer, the ping is not responding. Could you tell me if you have a solution for me. I need to learn windows 2003 server and this connextion is very important for me. Best regards

J'essai de connecter deux virtualbox en réseau. La première en Windows 2003 serveur et la deuxième en Windows XP. J'ai essayé toutes les configurations dans les paramètres de virtualbox et dans les paramètres IP (IP fixe ou DHCP) mais c'est pareil, quand j'essai de pinguer le serveur du poste XP ou inversement, je n'ai pas de réponse. Quelqu'un a t'il une solution, j'essai d'apprendre windows 2003 serveur et cette connection est très importante pour moi. Merci de votre aide

Use Bridge network mode.

Thks vbox4me2 for your answer but just a question. My computer is in DHCP mode with the IP address 10.121.38.*. After modification for both VB with the bridge network mode, both VB in DHCP mode have the address 10.121.38.* too and i can ping all VB from my computer and i can ping both VB from these VB. That is a problem with my network ? These VB are they accessible or visible from my network ? Both IP addresses used for the VB will be not free for the other computers on my network ? When my laptop will be disconnected and in offline mode, what will be all IP addresses ? Best regards vbox4me2

Merci vbox4me2 pour votre réponse mais juste une question. Mon ordinateur est en DHCP avec l'adresse IP 10.121.38.*. Après modification sur les deux VB avec le mode de réseau de pont, les deux VB en DHCP ont l'adresse 10.121.38.* aussi et je peux pinguer ces deux VB depuis mon PC et je peux pinguer les VB depuis elles mêmes. Est ce un problème avec mon réseau ? Ces VB sont elles accessibles ou visibles depuis mon réseau ? Les deux adresses IP utilisées pour le VB ne seront pas libres pour les autres ordinateurs sur mon réseau ? Quand mon ordinateur portable sera débranché et en mode autonome, quelles seront toutes les adresses IP ? Sincères salutations vbox4me2

It is correct that the VMs get that range, because they are now part of the network. If you want to separate them, you can define a static IP address in a different range. That way, they still use the network infrastructure, but can't see the other machines and the other machines can't see them.

However, if the VMs reside on the same Host, you can use Internal Networking instead too. That method is for VMs only, so no host or other machine on the network will see them. If it's about two physically separated machines, each running one VM, then Bridged is the only way.
