I have a corrupted Windows XP guest but I want to recover some important stuff from it. I can't boot the guest OS so how can I mount the VDI as a drive on Windows XP (or on Linux) to recover the data?
PS: I have a dynamically expanding vdi image

Edit: I tried it out but Linux refuses to mount my partition! Is it probably corrupted or something? Any hard disk recovery tools I could use?

Sure, the recovery console from windows install CD, getdataback, use Google to find zillions more.
