I wonder, is it possible to use Windows XP64 as a host? The user manual only mentions 32 bit xp.

If it works what problems can I expect with XP64 as a host OS (specific to xp64 that is)?

Works perfectly with xp64, just make sure you have all the motherboard 64bit drivers.
