I've looked thru the forum and could not find this issue listed (found some 'like' issues, but not exact), so if I just missed it, my apologies for the repeat (I know that can be annoying).

Anyway, have a Vista host system, and running VB 2.2.4, and haven't really ever had any issues with it, except with doing an internal reboot of my installed XP guest (i.e. XP does an update and prompts to restart). The OS goes down, but then that's it - it doesn't come back up. I just get a blank (black) screen, where I now have to do a reset/shutdown of the session (Machine>Reset/Close), and restart it.

I started up the XP-VB session, and opened the logs to see the most current state, then ran the restart sequence in XP (Start>Shutdown>Restart), and here's what the logs showed at that point between where it was fully running, then to the point where I did a restart in XP and it hung ...

After this point, the session just sits there, open, with a blank (black) screen. No further activity is visible, or logged.

if anyone has any thoughts, pointers, fixes, or workarounds, it'd be much appreciated.

I just responded to you other post but this looks different.
Anyway I have had an on again off again problem only with Windows XPpro behaving exactly like this.
The only work around that I have come up with is instead of restarting or shutting down I click on the ACPI shutdown in the VirtualBox machine tab. It never hangs that way but if I click shutdown from within XPpro it is a shot in the dark if it will shutdown properly.
