I very recently had my first experience using the Linux OS Ubuntu. I have three guests installed on my computer VirtualBox (all Ubuntu) the third of which needs to be configured as a router connecting the first two to each other and controls traffic from them to the host. I have been told Linux routes by default you just need to turn something on however I don't know what to do. All the googling I've done has lead to search results with three physical machines, NIC cards, and an actual router. How would I go about it if they are all virtual machines? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, this is nothing special with Virtualbox guests, assign virtual NICs to the router VM as needed. One would be bridged (or NAT) - the other ones connected to the "internal network" where the other Ubuntus VMs are connected to.

I have the same problem, and I already assign 2 NIC in the router VM, both are host-only.
but still that VM does not work as a router, it can only connects to other VMs, but it can not make the other VMs connected with each other. Any solutions?
