VBoxSVC.exe crash on Importing Appliance

I've been experiencing a crash on a 32-bit Vista host whilst importing a Fedora 10 guest appliance.

The crash occurs the moment I click 'Import' having chosen the appliance and confirmed the settings.

The following error is written to the Event log:

Faulting application VBoxSVC.exe, version 2.2.4.0, time stamp 0x4a20259b, faulting module VBoxSVC.exe, version 2.2.4.0, time stamp 0x4a20259b, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00023c6c, process id 0xed4, application start time 0x01c9f4b754e10b84.

After two days of trial and error I've tracked this down to my host's USB wireless keyboard/mouse receiver (Microsoft Wireless Desktop Receiver 3.1A)

Having replaced the devices with USB equivalents and Uninstalled -> Rebooted -> Reinstalled -> Rebooted VirtualBox I can now successfully import the appliance

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
