Connecting to shared folders and networking in Windows 7

This is NOT a question; it is a tip for people to help solve a problem which I know to be persisitent.
I am aware that shared folders are not supported in windows 7. I have found a workaround for this. In the host OS, network share the folder you wish. Then open the guest OS and enter the ip address of the host (example: "\\192.168.1.101\") in the address bar in Computer/My computer. This will enable you to connect to those shared network folders. This also works to network to computers.
