On Ubuntu 9.04, VirtualBox 2.2.4 is trying to load 64-bit winload.exe as 32-bit and it is failing. The system is 64-bit as is the Ubuntu. I have just installed OpenSolaris 64-bit on VirtualBox. Am I missing a parameter somewhere ?

Are you sure solaris (Guest) is running in 64bit mode?

I installed the 64 bit version, from an .ISO cd... I would imagine that it would not run on a 32 bit system - emulated or real. Several weeks ago installed it natively on the computer, no emulation inbetween and looked at memory use to check that my newly installed 8gb was 'seen'. It was.

Don't imagine, check it, I've seen multiple posts here about solaris running in 32bit mode while thinking it was 64.

OK - I can see that it would make more sense to download the 32 bit version of Windows 7 since I would have no need any longer for the 64 bit version as I would not run it natively and expect to use all the memory on my machine for it.
