Re: help with settings pls
Well I would start by reading the VBox users guide. In particular the section 6 Virtual Networking and more specifically 6.5 about bridged.
Open the VBox program and press F1, it is all there.

Re: help with settings pls
Age,
You have to understand that no one is there with you. You must give us some more information for us to be able to help.
So did you switch to Bridged mode? Does your Host have an Internet connection, and if so is it to a router or just a cable that plugs in to the DSL/Cable modem?
What are the exact settings you have in the guest settings of VBox? Have you checked to make sure that you do not have a firewall issue?

Re: help with settings pls
Hi, I have the same problem with Age, i.e. can't get internet connection in vbox.
I use Vbox version 2.2.2.r46594 with host Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit and guest Windows XP SP2. I have internet connection at host through wireless router. I don't have antivirus or firewall installed in the vbox. The current network setting is PCNet FAST III (hardware) NAT (networking mode).
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if any additional info is required. Many thanks!

The minium information that is needed is below. We are not looking at your computer and have no way to help if you do not provide the information that is needed.
- Please provide host and guest memory.
- What are the VBox settings (all of them) for the guest?

Re: help with settings pls
Hi,
Host memory 4GB, guest memory 512MB.
VBox Settings (pls let me know if the details below are not what you need):
Name: XP Pro SP2
OS Type: Windows XP
Base Memory: 512 MB
Video Memory: 12 MB
Boot Order: Floppy, CD/DVD-ROM, Hard Disk
ACPI: Enabled
IO APIC: Disabled
VT-x/AMD-V: Enabled
Nested Paging: Disabled
PAE/NX: Disabled
3D Acceleration: Disabled
Do you need any other settings (hard disks, serial port, CD/DVD ROM, USB) as well?
Error message I receive when I try accessing Google or any other websites:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.
Thanks again!

Re: help with settings pls
There was a problem around version 2.2.X and NAT that did cause a problem connecting to Internet locations. Is it possible for you to upgrade to version 2.2.4?
The issues were fixed in this version. If not I will search for the work around, but it would be better if you were up-to-date with proper fixes.

Re: help with settings pls
Hi, I have upgraded to version 2.2.4 but I still can't get internet connection. I keep the network setting intact (PCNet FAST III (hardware) NAT (networking mode)). I can't even get connection when I plug in the ethernet cable. Any idea on how to troubleshoot this issue?

Do you have a router that you use to connect to the internet or just a cable plugged in from a DSL or cable modem to the host?

Re: help with settings pls
Alright then liezhong,
For use to help you will need to provide a bit more information. If you can post the guest settings and any and all information in the network section it would be helpful.
Also you need to make sure that you do not have a firewall issue. You can check this by turning off the firewall in the host and the guest until you see if you can connect to the internet.
From the guest (it shows Windows in your profile) I need you to open a command window and type ipconfig /all and post that here as well.
