Bridged Networking Configuration

Post by wswartzendruber »

I'm confused as to how I'm supposed to setup my host and guest adapters for bridged networking. I would think that whatever IP address I give my guest adapter reflects on the physical one. What protocols do I enable on the host for Windows and what address in the Windows host do I assign the physical adapter? What about the virtual one?

EDIT: I'm a idiot. I bridged eth1 in the guest instead of eth0 like I needed.

The host adapter is easy. You leave it alone. The guest adapter (virtual one) is selected in the settings for the guest in VBox and then you select the adapter to connect to (the actual host NIC). After that you should not need to anything if you leave the guest using DHCP. Now if this is what you have and it still does not work for you then you will need to specify the version of VBox that you are using along with the exact settings for the guest.
