Re: Vista Host - Ubuntu Shared Folder
I have successfully been able to achieve this by setting the permission on the shared folder from within Vista to allow everyone limited control and authenticated users full control. You need to decide just how secure you want to make it but it is possible to achieve. It is also important that you have set the proper permissions to the share when you mount it in Ubuntu. I have my mount point defined in the rc.local as: mount -t vboxsf -o rw,gid=1000,uid=1000 Shared /mnt/Shared you need to verify that the gid and uid are your login ID's.

Re: Vista Host - Ubuntu Shared Folder
I am assuming that you are using the shared folder inside of VBox.
The statement that I sent was to go in the rc.local file on Ubuntu because you still need to mount it to use it. By putting it there it will be available every time you boot into Ubuntu.
uid is user id and gid is group id. you can see these id's by typing id in a terminal window on Ubuntu. More than likely it will be 1000 for both but you should check to be sure.
Now this is the tricky part. Shared /mnt/Shared the Shared is the name you gave you share in VBox and the /mnt/Shared is the complete path that you set up for the mount point.
Actually aside from making sure the permissions are set in Vista as I indicated above everything else in done in Ubuntu.
