VirtualBox connection timeout for registration and update

I installed VirtualBox 2.1.4 under Ubuntu 8.10 (AMD64) and have since updated to Ubuntu 9.04. Whenever I try to "Register VirtualBox..." or "Check for Updates..." I get the following error dialog:
VirtualBox - Error
Unable to obtain new version information due to the following error:
Connection timed out
Anyone know how I can correct this error?

May be somtime server had problem!

I just tried to update and it returned that I was up-to-date. Try again and if you still have problems let me now and I will report it.

Answering my own question. Try Help->Register.
I was able to register without problems today (Monday, June 22 2009). It may have been a server hiccup yesterday.

Thanks, it's is working fine today. Just a coincidence that the only time I have ever tried those features was when the server was down.
In the interim I uninstalled 2.1.4 and replaced it with the latest deb package from the website. It went very smoothly and maintained all of my settings and guest installation!
