Yum Repo to install/update Virtual Box?

Hallo,

Virtual Box already provides an RPM package for Fedora. Is there a Yum Repository that include the package?
If not, why don't put it in RPMFusion, for example?

Sure, for the PUEL version anyway. OS specific comes from the OS repo.

Look down a little and add it to your source list.

Perryg: I can't see what you're referring to. I can only see rpms on that page. Are you sure you're talking about what the OP is talking about (OP wants a Yum repo, NOT an rpm, and so do I).

Well there is always the possibility that I have indeed misunderstood something. YUM is a package management program that Fedora uses to install RPM packages. So if you want to get updates automatically you can cut to the source and add VirtualBox to your repository as I have done and it just keeps you up-to-date. That was what I was indicating but if this is not the case I don't have any other suggestions to offer. Sorry. Fedora itself has the VirtualBox OSE already available and is the version that they are willing to support. I prefer the PUEL version myself for the added benefits that come with it.

timandahaf - for Fedora 10 or 11 enable RPM Fusion repositories (free and non-free) by running this:

Code: Select all

su -c 'rpm -Uvh \
http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm \
http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm'
... then install

Code: Select all

yum install VirtualBox-OSE VirtualBox-OSE-guest kmod-VirtualBox-OSE
Done 8)

Just to make things clear here. There is NO repository for RPM based distro's. So Fedora and the like don't have the PUEL version repository, unlike Debian based distro's. It's been asked before to provide a Yum repo, as noted in this topic: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9554
It's just not available atm.
