Hi,

I am running VirtualBox 2.2.4. I am set up with Nat
Initially my Fedora 10 guest on my Vista laptop was better off than now but not perfect:

1)I could surf the internet
2) ping an ip address,
3) run nslookup, but
3) I could not run traceroute (at line 1 it was giving 10.0.2.2)

Then after I ran: VBoxManage modifyvm --natnet1 "198.0.0\16" or somethign of the like, it messed up my internet connection and I can't do ping anymore. OS I made my original problem worse.

The problem is, I can't find any documentatio on how to use --netnat or what it is or how to get it back to the default setting. There is nothing on that argument in the Help despite the vast amount of docs on VBoxManage.

Basically, I would like to configure my Fedora so that:

1) I can ping
2) I can run nslookup
3) I can run traceroute
4) I can browse the internet with firefox

Then I will know that I am in good shape

Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks!

You can run the statement without any value to return to the original state AFAIK it works here as well.

Some of the functions will not work properly in NAT (see section 6.4.3. NAT limitations of the users guide) but do in Bridged. Something to consider.

That sounds good. I had to go back to the drawing board and read. I read about NAT. Then decided to do the Bridged. So in order to get everythign working I had to choose Bridged and the Bridged adapter intel (R) Wifi Link. Then everythign worked. I could surf, I could ping and I could traceroute.

I think I was oconfused as to what those adapters were. I wasn't sure if we were to choose our actual host implementation of adapter or if those were virtual adapters and we could choose any implementation. I am guessing mine wouldn't have worked had I not chosen the wireless? (Because my laptop host Vista os uses wireless and i am not connected through nic and cable?)
