here is the code I've put in, I'm following your instructions to the letter, I think:
[liveuser@localhost ~]$ su
[root@localhost liveuser]# sh '/home/liveuser/.gvfs/VBoxGuestAdditions_2.0.4.iso/VBoxLinuxAdditions-amd64.run'
sh: /home/liveuser/.gvfs/vBoxGuestAdditions_2.0.4.iso/VBoxLinuxAdditions-amd64.run: Permission denied

Have you installed this or are you trying to run this as a live CD?

Well you have to install it before you can do all of this.
Look at the desktop and see if there is an icon to install on the hard drive.

Great! Got it! Now it asks for a GNU Compiler before continuing, saying I don't have one on the machine

OK now go back and read what I said to do in the first place and you should be able to install. All of the information that you need to make this happen is in this thread.

Oh, right! I had to reset the OS because my computer froze (wrong RAM assignments, dang it) so that may be why it didn't work... Wow, thanks a lot! You're a tremendous help! Thanks for bearing with me
