Static IP setting with Windows Server 2003 Dedicated Server

Post by masterpneumatic »

I just installed virtual box on my windows server 2003. We have 15 ip addresses, and I want to assign 3 ip address to the guest on virtual box, what should I do with the virtual box adaptor ip4 settings? Initial setup, virtualbox assign a non existed virtual ip to that adapter. Should I just create a make up ip address and everything will work?

Any one has any ideas?

Thank you

Use Bridged adapter in VBox and then static addresses in the guest.

what will be the gateway in this case should the ip's from like the 15 (in my case 12) be removed that is

if i want the virtual hosts to have 3 ips from the 12 i have should they be removed from my interface on the host ?
and what will be the gateway on the guest ?

have been on this problem for 2 days

i have set up a win xp guest on a win 2003 host

Ok let's back up a bit shall we. Let me ask a few questions.

Where are you getting the network connection to the Host from, a router Etc..? Is it cable, DSL, Etc..?
From the host in a command prompt type ipconfig /all and post the information here.
Also post the guest settings exactly as you have them now in VirtualBox.
