Hi all,
I backed up an XP home machine using acronis and have restored that into a VirtualBox machine, however, it keeps rebooting during the startup phase of windows. Here are the things I've tried;
1) Uncheck APIC: It hangs right after the white bar goes across in the DOS window and eats one processor at 100%. leaving APIC checked causes it to get past this but then GPF's.
2) Changed IDE controller type: Makes no visible difference.
3) Attached VDI as a secondary drive to a working XP virtual machine and deleted the necessary files from the system32/config directory and replaced with the clean ones from the repair directory. No change.
4) Unchecked any network controllers.
5) disabled the VT settings by removing them from the machine config file.
Any suggestions would be incredibly appreciated. I'm trying to get this up and running for a family member.
Thanks,
Ken
