can i move a debian guest system from a Dual Core to a Single Core System without any troubles ?

will be fine, as linux uses the smp kernel even for single cpu machines these days.
the guests don't have smp support anyway, so they don't know if your host is single or dual core.

Also avoid having snapshots. They are hard to make working.
