XP BSOD when scanning for new hardware after SATA

So I wanted to convert my boot drive to SATA...I enabled the SATA controller, booted, installed version 8.8.0.1009 of the Intel storage manager, shutdown, changed my boot volume from IDE to SATA 0 and booted. EVerything seems to be fine.

Except that when I view the driver for the Vbox disk, it says it's still using the IDE driver. if I select Scan For New Hardware, the guest BSODs.

What did I do wrong?

Thanks, but I have already read all that, which is how I got as far as I did.

I see a SATA controller in my device manager, but the VirtualBox hard drive is still using the MS IDE driver, and the guest BSODs when I scan for new hardware. I didn't see either or those issues in those links.

Via sata issues you end up here: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic. ... 983#p47983
Its quite simple if you follow these steps. And yes the ide as main controller in VM and GUI are still there, they won't disappear just because ahci got added.
