How to Upgrade?

Post by liminal »

I have 1.6.4 installed on Windows XP with Ubuntu 8.04 as the guest OS. I have looked on the site, but have not found any instructions for how to upgrade a VirtualBox installation. Can I just install the new version over the existing version? Are there any configuration changes that I will need to perform?

Thanks in advance.

Do yourself a favor and uninstall the original VirtualBox, reboot the computer then install the new version, and yes reboot again.
All of your setting will be picked up if you do not change the location of the install from that of the older version.
VirtualBox will update your configuration files and all should be fine. Of course it never hurts to backup you virtualbox.xml file just to be safe.
