Windows 7 can't install network drivers

My apologies, I've found several topics regarding the same subject. On the moment of creation I hadn't find any (yet).
I run Ubuntu 8.10 and have tried XP SP1 as guest for my first go. Everything worked fine, including networking and shared folders.
For my second go I decided to attempt Windows 7 as guest. No installation issues whatsoever.
However, when I tried to figure out why my internet didn't work out-of-the-box I found out that it doesn't have drivers for several things:
- Ethernet Controller
- Multimedia Audio Controller
- Base System Device (what is this?)
Is this something Virtualbox can fix? It seems to me this is Windows 7 related and since networking doesn't work I can't rely on any automatic updates or similar things. Also, to get the drivers there (if they are similar to Vista, which I don't know) I'd need to install XP to a VM and attach a second VDI file and store the drivers there. Then detach the VDI and re-attach it to the Windows 7 VM.
I recall having the same problem when trying Vista, which I desperately attempted when 7 failed. I can't imagine this being windows' fault since XP worked without a sweat, I really hope it's my fault and that someone can figure out why it's not working.
I hope I've provided enough info, all help is appreciated. If this is fixable it'll give a green light to permanent Ubuntu usage (from Vista), declaring independence.
