duplicate vdi, is this expected?

Post by macombej »

Hi,

After loading my vbox and creating a guest XP system I noticed that my 160 GB hard drive was almost full. I created a guest system that was 60GB and allocated all of it. When I look at the .virtualbox directory I see a <my guest name>.vdi and when I look in the .virtualbox/harddisks and see the same .vdi there at 60GB. Is it expected that this occur? If so, anyone know how to reduce the guest size without totally reloading?

Not sure where it came from but the version in the harddisks dir was the one that didn't belong (60GB recovered).
