Can't move files from VB to Win7

Welll.... it all starts with there being no driver for my scanner for either Vista or Win7. So I try Windows Virtual machine. Nope. No support for my AMD64 processor. So I hear about Virtual Box, and it installs fine, running Win2k, but how do I move the scans I make out of Virtual Box? I've tried two different ways, with Shared Folders: set it up, and so? Nada. Install Guest Additions. Fine! Nada. Win7 can't find it. No way to add it to the Homegroup, or give the password for the Homegroup to VB. Any suggestions?
Thanks so much,
Jim Dodds

In the settings for the guest under shared folders you need to setup a share. There is an icon that you can click that will show the drive structure of the host system. Select the folder that you want to be the shared folder and then name it something easy like share in the window just below the shared folder that you selected. Open the guest and then open a command prompt window. In this window type the following:
Replace the sharename with share if that is what you told VBox. You should then see the drive in the file manager as a shared folder of the guest.
PS: I am moving this to Windows 7 since that is what your host is.

Thank you! That worked perfectly! One more question. I'm having trouble installing Photoshop because it can't find the earlier version on the host. Can I make an additional shared folder of the Photoshop application folder?
Thanks again!

Well that might pose a different problem. VBox share might not be able to do that for you. I am not sure that a network share will either but that would be the best choice for success. Adobe is really funny about that stuff. One other consideration is whether it is acceptable with your EULA and for that you will need to check.

If the installer for PS can't find an older version, it means that you have an upgrade installer, not a full installer. Get the full installer, that won't ask for older versions. Or install an old version first, then try again.
