Imposible to enable bridge networking after upgrade

Hello to everybody and thanks in advance for your time. Virtualbox is really a great and useful tool.
After upgrading from 2.2.2 to 2.2.4 and changing my windows profile to a new profile (necessary for my work), I copied the whole .virtualbox directory and updated properly the new path to the application. And then the problem rose: when I try to launch my Ubuntu virtual machine, Virtualbox pops up the following message:
"Failed to open/create the internal network "HostInterfaceNetworking-Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection"
(VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND).
Unknown error creating VM
(VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND)."
Aaagghh. I can't neither use the "host only" networking mode. In fact, the VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter is not properly installed (Windows XP SP3 device manager shows the existence of some kind of problem with the exclammation icon). I have tried to go back to the 2.2.2, then again to the 2.2.4, several times, always with administrator rights, and nothing works. Really a pity. It has been working long time.
I would appreciate any help you can give. Anyway, thank you vey much, folks ...
