Restarting crashed USB support without rebooting?

Often the virtualBox USB service crashes meaning that virtualBox does not recognise USB devices any more.
The only solution I have so far is to reboot the whole PC. Is there any faster and easier solution? Thanks for help.

No idea without knowing what the host operating system is or the guest.

The host is Windows as I post in the forum "VirtualBox on Windows Hosts".
The guest is sometimes Linux (Backtrack), sometimes Windows XP, so the crashing is not guest dependant.

So there is only one Windows. I thought there were many out there.

USB is a throw of the dice in Windows Vista, Not sure about your version though 'cause I have no idea what it is. Only sure way to get it to work is to select to use the USB in the settings and leave the filters blank. Then once in the guest click on the device tab and select the device you want to use. Or the other way is to create a blank filter and then once the guest boots up to unplug the device and plug it back in.

When the USB-support is crashed there is no device shown any more in VirtualBox. Also a blank filter doesn't help. On the host the USB-devices work fine, but I want them in the guest. After a reboot of the host everything works again. Closing VirtualBox and starting it again doesn't work.
