[XP] Set IPs in guests

Post by Markstar »

Hi,
I have installed everything from scratch and now, with the new VBox version, have some problems, most importantly setting my network settings:

Both Ubuntu and XP as guests install fine (except the 800*600 screen size limit, but I guess I will see to that later), internet works and I can see the other computers in the network. HOWEVER, when I try to set an IP (192.168.0.16x) for them and set the Gateway to 192.168.0.1, Internet stops working and I can't ping anything anymore. I know I got this to work in earlier versions of VBox, could somebody please set me on the right track here? What do I need to change (I guess the VirtualBox Host-Only Network is involved as I remember changing the settings back then as well) to get this to work?

I would appreciate any help, thank you.

Wow, I was playing around for hours with this (even reinstalled Windows) and even tried bridge mode at some point (I guess my other settings were already too messed up by then). It works now, thank you! :D
