RTC issues between w2k, xp and vista Guests

I have noticed that w2k is not so badly effected by clock drifts due to clock emulation as vista or xp. Ie. GA resets the clock every minute and vista/xp do drift backwards when used heavely, you can see it happening. However w2k does not drift at all. Does anyone have any insight why? ea. how is w2k linked to rtc in difference to xp?
