Hosted on Windows XP, VB 2.2.4.r47978. I upgraded from Fedora 10 to Fedora 11, using their upgrade script. On final reboot, I got the text-mode loading screen, saying :
Io: Disabled Privacy Extensions
eth0: link up, 100mbps, full_duplex
Those two lines flashed at the top about 30 times or so, then the startup hung and remained that way. Any sugegstions?
Thanks
Dan Winslow

Re: Fedora 11 upgrade
Sounds like a failed Fedora upgrade. Have you checked with the Fedora forums?

Re: Fedora 11 upgrade
The best thing to do is to delete the virtual hard drive, rebuild it and install Fedora 11. Before you install guest additions, the gcc, etc. you have to make sure you install the kernel-PAE file, and then turn off VirtualBox and enable the PAE, otherwise, you have to delete the kernel, and download all of the programs all over again.

Re: Fedora 11 upgrade
Thanks Brad. Do I understand you to be saying that VB will not work with Fedora 11 unless the PAE option is enabled?

Re: Fedora 11 upgrade
You are correct. Otherwise, you will have to delete the kernel, and then download the kernel and all the software once again.

Re: Fedora 11 upgrade
Actually you do not need PAE support to install Fedora 11. At least in the 32 bit version.

Re: Fedora 11 upgrade
Really? I've got few F10, F11 (previously it was rawhide then alpha, beta, preview - through updates) and never used PAE kernels as it was completely unnecessary with 1,536MB of emulated RAM...BradOlson wrote:You are correct. Otherwise, you will have to delete the kernel, ...
@Perryg - there is no PAE for 64bit, therefore you don't need PAE to install F11 at all

Re: Fedora 11 upgrade
Pretty much what I said. Since I do not run the Fedora 11 64 bit I was not going to include it.
