Does bridged networking work on AMD 64?

I'm running VirtualBox 2.2.4 on Ubuntu Jaunty on a 64 bit machine Dell PowerEdge T105. The guest os is Windows XP Professional, service pack 3.

NAT works perfectly, bridged networking does not work at all. I'm trying to figure out whether this is particular to my system, or whether others have run up against the same problem.

If this is peculiar to my machine, any suggestions on how to fix it would be welcome. Thank you.

Stefan,

Thanks for the reply. In response to your request for more info, I shut down my vm (running on nat for many days), updated the host on general principles, restarted VBox, switched networking to bridged, restarted the windows vm, and dutifully set out to collect network info from both host and guest sides.

When I got to the guest side info, I was pleasantly surprised to see bridged networking work for the first time. I have no idea what changed (I'd been trying to get bridged working for at least the last two VB updates), but I am not going to question my luck. Everything looks good. I was even able to remote in from the linux side using the terminal services client.

Thanks again for your help. You got me to try one more time, and that time was the charm.

Ed.

Did you actually reboot the physical server or not?

No, only shut down the windows vm, then VBox. Updated Ubuntu, then restarted VBox, switched vm from nat to bridged, then started the vm. Ubuntu host was not restarted.
