Cannot enable VT

Hi.

VT is grayed out and cannot be touched.

Facts:

- My processor supports VT/XD.
- It's enabled in the bios, along with Execute Disable Bit.
- Already tried disabling and enabling it again.
- Hyper-V VMs are running on this system (Hyper-V doesn't allow VMs to be started if it cannot detect VT enabled so it's a Virtualbox problem).
- I could live without VT on Virtualbox if VM performance wasn't so horribly bad (may not be VT related).
- I want to virtualize my usual desktop, that's the reason i can't do it with Hyper-V like the rest of VMs on this system (Hyper-V doesn't support USB, audio, D3D or widescreen resolutions. The workaround is using RDP, with the obvious performance loss).
- Host constantly BSODs when starting up VMs in Virtualbox. Event viewer throws this:

Code: Select all

Faulting application VirtualBox.exe, version 2.2.4.0, time stamp 0x4a202184, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6002.18005, time stamp 0x49e041d1, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000000000002c429, process id 0x994, application start time 0x01c9ea05aa1220a0.
Specs:

Proc: Intel Q9300
Mobo: Intel DP45SG
Ram: 8 GB DDR3 1333 Mhz
Host: Windows Server 2008 Enterprise x64

Thanks

Hi,
- Hyper-V VMs are running on this system ...
do you try running both hypervisors, Hyper-V and Virtualbox the same time? - that wont work

I thought it could be an incompatibility with Hyper-V.

So i would basically need to migrate my Hyper-V vhds back to Virtualbox and remove the hyper-v role for virtualbox to work?

remove the hyper-v role
maybe its sufficient to stop/deactivate the service (if there is any, i dont know Hyper-V)
