PPPoE and bridging doesn't work, the primary lan interface can only handle a single IP address, you need a router to replace the software ppp link.

well i felt i should add this little piece of information

after setting the connection on my virtual box to bridged network and also choosing my nic card from the drop down list

,on booting my guest os been ubuntu i found out that on my web browser it displays the exact say page it would have displayed on my primary os been vista, if i hadn't connected to the internet...

so in essense what am trying to say is that...it presumably might work

just that i need to know how to somehow add and ip address on ubuntu or a username and password presumably those i use on my host os been vista

You might get this to work by using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) in vista. You need to search the internet for "ICS Vista" and also look at the help and support section of Vista about ICS.

yes i have done that.

i know about ics as well

probably am begining to think its not possible to bridge a pppoe internet cause of the fact that the host uses a username and a password to access the internet

it is hard to actually grant the guest os access owing to the fact that this login details were given to us by the internet provider

Nothing a 30$ pppoe router can't solve.
